\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHPV (human papillomaviruses) are viruses that can trigger the development of cervical cancer. HPV infection is extremely common: about 80% of women will contract the virus at some point in their lives. In most cases, the infection clears spontaneously.
<\/br>In about 10% of cases, the infection can persist and cause cellular changes (precancerous lesions) on the cervix. These abnormalities may regress naturally or persist, with a risk of progression to cervical cancer over time.
<\/br>In France, screening is recommended from the age of 25 and is carried out using two cytological tests (cervical smears) one year apart. If the results are normal, the next check takes place three years later, using either another cervical smear or HPV testing, depending on age. If this test shows an abnormality, HPV testing may be performed.
From the age of 30, HPV detection by PCR is recommended. A cytological examination is then required if the virus is detected. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
